FAIR OAKS, Calif. Members of the Fair Oaks California Stake presented "A Great and Marvelous Work," a musical on Joseph Smith and the Restoration, on Nov. 18 and 20 to members and friends here. Music for the production, which was in commemoration of Joseph Smith's 200th birthday, was written by stake music director Wendy Palmer, with Bryan and Andrea Reynolds writing the script. Directing the stake orchestra was Kathy Wood. Of the 12 musical numbers in the show, Sister Palmer wrote or arranged 10 of them.
The choir of approximately 130 members was made up of youth and young single adults. Soloists auditioned for the musical as well as for speaking parts for characters such as King Benjamin, John Taylor, Martin Luther, and Joseph Smith.
