NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — An organization that honors motion pictures for character and morality in their content recently gave "CAMIE Awards" (Character And Morality In Entertainment) to 10 such movies.
Jon Voight was among movie and TV stars, producers, directors, writers and executives who attended the 2006 awards, hosted by actor John Schneider and 1993 Miss America Leanza Cornett at the Leonard H. Doldenson Theatre in North Hollywood. Missionaries from the California San Fernando Mission served as ushers.
The organization is a cooperative effort of LDS, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim leaders. Its mission is to encourage the production and awareness of outstanding, uplifting and entertaining motion pictures with positive role models for building character, overcoming adversity, correcting unwise choices, strengthening families, living moral lives and solving problems with integrity and perseverance.
