President Gordon B. Hinckley was discharged from the hospital Jan. 30, after having undergone surgery Jan. 24 to remove a cancerous growth in the large intestine.
"Doctors are very pleased with President Hinckley's progress and have discharged him from the hospital. He is home now and continues to rest comfortably," said a Church spokesman, Dale Bills. "We expect he will be able to resume his normal schedule soon."
Brother Bills said earlier that the diseased portion of the intestine, found through routine medical screening, "was successfully removed through a laparoscopic procedure."
President Hinckley expressed gratitude to members and others for their prayers in his behalf. He looks forward to resuming his duties.
