SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. — Missionary efforts during a Cinco de Mayo celebration here resulted in collecting more than 1,300 referrals. Information available at the Church's 40-foot-square booth focused on strong families.

Spanish-speaking missionaries from three missions — Los Angeles, Arcadia, and Long Beach — were joined by members of Los Angeles-area Spanish stakes and the El Dorado Young Single Adult Ward in staffing the booth, which was amidst several major attractions and vendors at the event in the Whittier Narrows Regional Park.

Popular at the Church booth were balloons printed with "Families Are Forever" in Spanish and English, and face painting. Members painted faces and filled balloons to be given away, and missionaries spoke to those of the 80,000 people attending who expressed interest.
