Family: Born Jan. 22, 1947, in Burley, Idaho, to Stephen B. and Hazel Taylor Ellis. Married Kathryn Kloepfer on June 7, 1969, in the Los Angeles California Temple; children (spouse names in parentheses): Joy Marguerite Park (Darrell), Kathryn Linkous (Kevin), Matthew Stanley (Natalie), Mark Benjamin (Aupreille), John William (Laura), Robert K., Rachel Jane, Spencer Waite, Emily Hazel; seven grandchildren.

Education: Bachelor's degree in governmental studies from Harvard University, 1972; juris doctorate from BYU Law School, 1976.

Employment: Financial consultant with First Meridian headquartered in Houston, Texas.

Church service: Area Seventy at the time of call; president of Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission, 1999-2002; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, counselor in bishopric and elders quorum presidency; missionary in the Brazilian Mission, 1966-68.
