SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento California Temple will be open to the public for four weeks prior to its dedication on Sunday, Sept. 3. It is California's seventh temple.

The media were given a preview of the temple on Wednesday, July 26, with the public open house running from July 29-Aug. 26 except Sundays. Tours will be Mondays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Free tickets for the open house are available online at www.lds.org/reservations, and also by calling 1-800-537-6214.

A cultural celebration featuring more than 5,000 youth of the Church is scheduled the day before the dedication at ARCO Arena, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings.

The new temple will serve more than 80,000 members in the Sacramento area. It is located in a park-like setting on a hill covered with native oak trees in the Sacramento suburb of Rancho Cordova. The 19,500-square-foot edifice is 131 feet high, its tower topped by a golden statue of Angel Moroni.

President Gordon B. Hinckley broke ground for the temple on Aug. 22, 2004. It was announced on April 20, 2001.
