Six new leaders hav been called by the First Presidency to serve as
temple presidents and temple matrons. They will begin their three-year
service on Nov. 1.
June and Arnold Jones
Arnold Jones, 65, Merthyr Tydfil
Ward, Merthyr Tydfil Wales Stake; called as president of the Preston
England Temple, succeeding President John Maxwell. President Jones' wife,
June Francis Jones, will serve as temple
matron. President Jones, a counselor in the
London England Temple
presidency, has served as a stake president, stake mission president,
district president, branch president and missionary in the British Building
Mission. He is a retired training consultant. He was born in Merthyr
Tydfil, Wales, to Frederick and Florence Ellen Pulman Jones.
Sister Jones is an assistant to the matron in the London England Temple
and a former stake and ward Relief Society president, stake and ward Young
Women president and seminary teacher. She was born in Merthyr Tydfil, to
William Thomas and Gwladys May Jones Francis.
Elizabeth and Jairo Mazzagardi
Jairo Mazzagardi, 59, Nova Vinhedo
Ward, Itatiba Brazil Stake; called as president of the Sao Paulo Brazil
Temple, succeeding President J. Kent Jolley. President Mazzagardi's wife,
Elizabeth I. Mazzagardi, will serve as temple
matron. He is a counselor in the
Campinas Brazil Temple presidency, a
former Area Seventy,
Brazil Salvador Mission president, stake president,
bishop and missionary serving in the Brazil Mission. He retired from his
real estate business. He was born in Itu, Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Antonio and
Margarida Prestes Mazzagardi.
Sister Mazzagardi, who is an assistant to the matron in the Campinas
Brazil Temple, served with her husband when he was mission president. She
is a former stake Relief Society president and temple ordinance worker. She
was born in Jundiai, Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Carlos and Thereza Chechinato
Ienne.
Vicente and Maria Mederos
Vicente Isaias Mederos Sanchez, 65,
Aculco Ward, Mexico City Mexico Oriental Stake; called as president of the
Villahermosa Mexico Temple, succeeding President Juan M. Cedeno Rodriguez.
President Mederos' wife,
Maria del Rosario Diaz
Ortega de Mederos, will serve as temple matron. President Medros, a
former counselor in the
Villahermosa Mexico Temple presidency, has served
as
Dominican Republic Santiago Mission president, regional welfare agent,
stake president and president's counselor, bishop and bishop's counselor,
and ward Sunday School president. He is a retired telephone company
employee. He was born in Mexico D.F. Mexico to Juan and Esther Mederos
Sanchez.
Sister Mederos, who served with her husband when he was mission
president, was an assistant temple matron, stake Relief Society and Young
Women president, stake Primary president and president's counselor, stake
Relief Society secretary, and ward Relief Society president and teacher.
She was born in Mexico D.F. Mexico, to Anselmo and Lucia Diaz Ortega.
Shirley and Joseph Memmott
Joseph Larry Memmott, 69, Deming 1st
Ward, Silver City New Mexico Stake; called as president of the Veracruz
Mexico Temple, succeeding President William R. Treu. President Memmott's
wife,
Shirley Catherine Willis Memmott, will
serve as temple matron. President Memmott, a stake president, has served as
Brazil Porto Alegre North Mission president, as stake mission president,
Young Men and Sunday School president, bishop and missionary in the
Brazilian Mission. He was a self-employed cattleman and fruit grower in New
Mexico and Chihuahua, Mexico. He was born in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua,
Mexico, to Joseph Fletcher and Nilus Stowell Memmott.
Sister Memmott, who served with her husband when he was mission
president, has served as ward Young Women president and counselor, ward
Primary president, Relief Society and Sunday School teacher, Primary
chorister and ward music chairman. She was born in McNary, Ariz., to Hugh
Melbourne and Merle Elizabeth Baker Willis.
H. Bruce and Cheryl Stucki
H. Bruce Stucki, 68, St. George 3rd
Ward, St. George Utah West Stake; called as president of the Las Vegas
Nevada Temple, succeeding President Frank F. Dixon. President Stucki's
wife,
Cheryl Cox Stucki, will serve as temple
matron. President Stucki, a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, has
served as
England Manchester Mission president, Area Seventy, Regional
Representative, stake president and stake president's counselor, bishop,
bishop's counselor and stake Young Men president. He is a retired
businessman in the food distribution industry and in real estate. He was
born in St. George Utah, to Harvey and Anna Hilda Witwer Stucki.
Sister Stucki, who served with her husband when he was mission
president, has served as stake Relief Society president and counselor,
stake Young Women president's counselor, ward Relief Society president and
counselor, and Primary Achievement Day leader. She was born in St. George,
Utah, to Emerald Lane and Elsie Burgess Cox.
Karen and Richard H. Winkel
Richard H. Winkel, 64, Mt. Pleasant
5th Ward, Mt. Pleasant Utah Stake; called as the first president of the
Sacramento California Temple, to be dedicated Sept. 3, 2006. President
Winkel's wife,
Karen Hart Winkel, will serve
as temple matron. President Winkel, a member of the Second Quorum of the
Seventy, has served as
Spain Madrid Mission president, stake president,
bishop, high councilor, seminary teacher and missionary. He is the retired
president/owner of Beaver Lumber of Arcata. He was born in Oakland, Calif.,
to Francis Benjamin and Rose Blanche Thompson Winkel.
Sister Winkel, who served with her husband when he was mission
president, has served as Relief Society president's counselor, Young Women
president's counselor, gospel doctrine teacher and chorister. She was born
in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leo Robert and Ruby Moriene King Hart.
