BALTIMORE, Md, — Aaron Potter, 12, of the Albany (Ore.) 3rd Ward, won the midget-level javelin throw at the Junior Olympics national meet at Morgan State in Baltimore, Md., on July 29 with a toss of 164-11. According to the Albany Democrat-Herald, Aaron, whose father, Mike Potter, is his coach and bishop, also set a national record in his age group at the Track City International Classic in Eugene, Ore., on July 21 with a throw of 178-11, beating the old record by 13 feet.

Aaron was joined at nationals by his brother, Benjamin, 9, who competed in the bantam-level 1,500-meter race walk.
