BANGKOK, Thailand — Jose Pablo Santana Corral, 15, a teacher in the Coronel Ward, Chihuahua Tecnologico Mexico Stake, was one of the leaders on Mexico's Chihuahua youth basketball team that won a gold medal in the World Children's Games held in Thailand Aug. 28.

Mexico defeated Canada 66 to 47 after besting seven countries.

Jose was one of two "indisputable standouts" on the team, according to El Diario of Chihuahua.

"The skills of players 15 and 16 years old marked a historic participation by a Mexican team to defeat consecutively Ghana, Ireland, Mongolia, Hungary, Bahrain, United States and Canada."

It was called "a significant triumph for Mexico."
