Strive to keep life in proper balance when serving the Lord.

Often some in the church become so energetic in their church service that their lives become unbalanced. Serve both wise and well to have a balanced life.

Focus on the people and principles — not just programs. To properly serve others requires effort to understand them as individuals. Church leadership meetings should be conducted in a way that details how leaders can minister to and lift the people.

Be innovative. Use handbooks as guidelines to follow, but use that framework to be creative and make use of individual talents. Divide the work and delegate responsibility.

Eliminate guilt. Motivate others through love and appreciation. "As mortals, we simply cannot do everything at once. Therefore we must do all things in wisdom and order."

Thoughtfully allocate resources of time, income and energy, and recognize the capabilities and limitations of all.

"What is most important in our church responsibilities is not the statistics that are reported or the meetings that are held but whether or not the individual people — ministered to one at a time just as the Savior did — have been lifted and encouraged and ultimately changed."
