Mortality is a time of testing and proving. It brings challenges and difficulties. "These can break us, and the surface of our souls may crack and crumble that is, if our foundations of faith, or testimonies of truth, are not deeply imbedded within us."
Constant effort can help build a foundation to withstand the challenges of life.
"Of course we do not live in a world where we experience nothing but the spiritual, but we can fortify our foundations of faith, our testimonies of truth, so that we will not falter, we will not fail." Three guidelines can help in building a strong foundation: prayer, scripture study and service.
With prayer, really communicate with the Lord. "By knowing Him, by trusting His will, our foundations of faith will be strengthened."
With scripture study, "let us study the scriptures and 'meditate therein day and night' as counseled by the Lord in the book of Joshua."
Last is service. In the Book of Mormon, King Benjamin says that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."
"There are feet to steady, hands to grasp, minds to encourage, hearts to inspire and souls to save."
