The Prophet Joseph Smith and President Brigham Young are included on a list of the top 100 "Most influential figures in American history" printed in the December issue of Atlantic magazine.
According to the Atlantic, it asked 10 eminent historians to compile the list.
Of Joseph Smith, No. 52 on the list, the magazine stated, "The founder of Mormonism, America's most famous homegrown faith."
President Young followed up at No. 74, the magazine stating of him: "What Joseph Smith founded, Young preserved, leading the Mormons to their promised land."
The list was led by Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
