KAHULUI, Hawaii Wilbert Kekahuna Kaimikaua, a 71-year-old high priest in the Hoolehua Ward, Kahului Hawaii Stake, lifted 374.5 pounds to win the World Association of Bench Press and Dead Lifters Championship held in Las Vegas, Nev., in November 2006.
Brother Kaimikaua, who has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, dominated state and world championships last fall, despite having suffered four open-heart surgeries.
He is a retired detective in the Honolulu Police Department, and has served in many leadership positions in the Church. Three grandsons currently serve missions, with a fourth soon to leave.
"Healthy eating, physical activity and obedience to the Lord's commandments are my priorities," he said.
