Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. Moroni 10: 3-5
My companion and I were having a very tough time finding people to teach. We would tract almost all day, knowing that there would be someone that was ready to hear the message of the Restoration, but when we would set an appointment, it would be canceled. When we tried our callbacks, we either would find no one home or they would say they were not interested.
I prayed and asked Heavenly Father to help us, and one day I read the scripture in 3 Nephi 13: 24 which reads: "No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon." That scripture told me that as long as I try as hard as I can to serve the Lord, He will bless me beyond my dreams. After that, we found a couple that we taught and they were interested in entering the waters of baptism. I later read James 1:5, which says: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." I also read the words in Moroni 10: 3-5. Because of these scriptures I know that I can ask our Heavenly Father for anything, as long as I have real intent.
I am so grateful for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who has made it possible for all of us to become like Him and His Father. Also I am grateful for Joseph Smith, who has brought this gospel forth. I know that by the power of the Holy Ghost we may know the truth of all things. Elder Anthony L. C. Smith, Canada Calgary Mission
