ANCHORAGE, Alaska A day after fire seriously damaged the adjacent stake center, the Anchorage Alaska Temple received minor flood damage from a suspected break in a water pipe or cap.
Although the exact cause of the flooding is unknown, efforts to extinguish a fire on Thursday, March 22, in the adjacent Anchorage Alaska Stake Center might have been related. Firefighters battled the fire for more than 12 hours.
Damage caused by the flooding was mostly confined to a mechanical room and restrooms in the basement of the temple. The temple will be closed temporarily for minor repairs.
