Today's young Latter-day Saints are truly a chosen generation with a great work to do.

Amid the concerns of the world, each individual must decide for himself, "Who's on the Lord's side? And our resounding answer should be: 'I am!"'

That positive response is what led Nephi to return to Jerusalem for the brass plates, and David to challenge Goliath to battle.

"My young brethren and sisters, wherever I travel I meet noble youth just like you who are faced constantly with modern-day Goliaths in the form of temptations that would cause us to violate our covenants and the standards the Lord has given us."

Two simple suggestions can help youths resolve the question of whose side they will take:

"First, never forget who you are" — a child of God. Heavenly Father has not left humans alone to struggle through life. "He has given us specific guides to help us accomplish that which he expects of us." Families and prophets are available to help.

Secondly, "Learn to control your thoughts." People are sent to Earth to be tested, and passing the tests is easier if thoughts are controlled. Scriptures, music and good poetry can replace evil thoughts that come to mind. Stay on the Lord's side of the line that marks the boundary between good and evil.
