Brigham Young University's Caroline Hemenway Harman Building was dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley, then a counselor to President Spencer W. Kimball, on April 13, 1982, according to the April 17 issue of the Church News. The building houses the BYU Division of Continuing Education.

Henry B. Eyring, then the Church Commissioner of Education, spoke at the dedication. He said, "This building will be used to lift the standards of those who learn here and make practical differences in their lives."

He also stated, according to the article, that he was grateful the building was named for a woman of high personal standards and performance. Sister Harman of Granger, Utah, was widowed three times and raised 14 children. She managed a farm while serving 18 years as a Relief Society president.
