Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. — John 4:9-10

As I pondered this wonderful scripture, two recent experiences came to my mind.

Driving in the mountains east of Salt Lake City, my wife and I observed with gratitude the kindness of our Heavenly Father in sending pure white snow that melts each spring filling reservoirs with water. Without this water, we could not survive in the arid desert where we live.

Parallel with this is the sacred experience I enjoyed recently in the House of the Lord. It was my privilege to seal a wonderful young couple for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Though they had been acquainted with each other eight years, only within recent months had they become aware of their love for each other.

As youngsters, she didn't like him because he had playfully thrown her into a snow bank. Now, mature in the gospel of Jesus Christ and dressed in white like the driven snow, they were ready to make sacred covenants and commitment for time and all eternity.

I encouraged them to return to the temple often to refill the reservoir of their souls with living waters. Feelings of love reflected in happy tears assured me that they will return often to the House of the Lord. They are now a "forever family" through the living waters of our Savior, Jesus Christ. — Richard Glenn Scott, Salt Lake City, Utah
