CHARLOTTE, N. C. — Three stakes in Charlotte, N. C., combined to pay tribute to and share their pioneer heritage with the community at an event held in the Levine Museum of the New South July 24.

The Charlotte North Carolina South, Charlotte North Carolina Central and Gastonia North Carolina stakes in conjunction with the BYU Alumni Association, which sponsored the event, shared stories of early members of the Church, including Green Flake, an African-American slave who helped lead Brigham Young's company to the Salt Lake Valley and later gained his freedom in Utah.

Museum patrons were treated to songs and re-enactments performed by Church members dressed in pioneer attire.
