Following are excerpts from statements released by the First Presidency Aug. 16, 2007, and Aug. 23, 2007.
Rexburg Idaho Temple
The First Presidency has announced dates for the dedication and open house of the Rexburg Idaho Temple.
The temple will be open to the public from Dec. 29-Jan. 26, excluding Sundays. A member meeting and cultural celebration will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, followed by four dedication sessions on Feb. 3.
Relief Society
meeting
Relief Society sisters worldwide are invited to view the satellite broadcast of the General Relief Society meeting. All sisters ages 18 years old and older are encouraged to meet together in chapels to view the broadcast. The meeting will be under the direction of the stake or district presidency. The stake or district Relief Society presidency should be invited to sit on the stand.
The meeting will include addresses by a member of the First Presidency and by the Relief Society general presidency.
General conference
We invite all members of the Church to participate with us in the 177th Semiannual General Conference, which will convene in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7, 2007. Messages of inspiration and guidance will be delivered by the First Presidency, members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other General Authorities and general officers of the Church....
We encourage all members to listen to and follow the counsel given during the general conference."
