Over General Conference weekend, there will be some performing-arts activities that visitors may want to check out.
Here is a list of some of the happenings Friday through Monday (but make note that schedules are always subject to change):
• The Repertory Dance Theatre will present its season-opener "Echo," which will feature Zvi Gotheiner's "Bricks," Anna Sokolow's "Lyric Suite" and Susan Hadley's "Blue Grass" on Friday and Saturday in the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. 300 South. The dancing begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 (355-2787, 888-451-2787, www.arttix.org).
• "The White Star," an LDS musical written by Doug Stewart and Janice Kapp Perry, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Art City Playhouse, 254 S. Main in Springville, and it will continue to be performed throughout October to local audiences. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children and $10 for students and seniors (435-668-5702, WhiteStarMusical.com).
• The Salt Lake Symphony will perform Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah campus. The program will feature Cliff Millwards' "Overture 1900," Mozart's Sinfonie Concertante and Dvorak's Symphony No. 7 in D Minor. Tickets are $8 (581-7100, www.kingsburyhall.com).
• Organist Heidi Alley will perform a free concert in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
• Javon Jackson Band and Dr. Lonnie Smith will perform their brand of jazz in the Sheraton City Center, 150 W. 500 South, on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 (Holladay Pharmacy, 278-0411).
• The Park City and Salt Lake City Autumn Classics Festival will feature a performance on Monday at 8 p.m. in the Libby Gardner Concert Hall on the U. campus. Tickets are $20 (available at the door).
