The feeling of inadequacy that comes with being called to serve as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve has been "buoyed by the knowledge that President Hinckley is the prophet, and that the membership of the church will be praying for me and my family."
Life experience teaches that "we must live by faith and not by fear." Latter-day Saints have the responsibility to search out the living water of the gospel, as do a group of Tongans during times of drought. They send young men into the sea to find selected areas where fresh water can be found, and they dive deep to retrieve it. "That water is fresh and life-giving, but it is not easy to find, and is not visible to the untrained eye.
"We live in precarious times when the world is in desperate need of the gospel." President Hinckley has asked members to be more pro-active in sharing what they know with others. To provide for those seeking truth, members must "live by faith and not by fear" as they reach out to "share the gospel with friends and associates."
Instilling faith within children doesn't depend on where one lives in the world. "I believe we can raise righteous children anywhere in the world if they are taught righteous principles in the home."
