President Harold B. Lee, then president of the Pioneer Stake in Salt Lake City, spoke during a Church Department of Education radio program about seminary on Sunday, March, 19, 1933, according to the March 25, 1933, Church News.
In his address, President Lee listed values of seminary which had been shared with him by students. They included:
"Seminary starts the day with prayer and things go more smoothly."
"Higher marks come easier after an hour in seminary."
"The most valuable friendships and the sweetest associations are formed with seminary students because the coming to seminary is voluntary and we are happiest about the things we are not compelled to do, and those who come have more things in common."
"The opportunity of asking questions of one who is well informed removes doubts that arise almost daily in our school or other religious meetings."
"The teachings we get in seminary help us to prepare to better serve the Church at home or in the mission field."
