A special Easter television broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was available on Good Friday, March 21, to some 20 million Canadians via Vision TV, a multi-faith, 24-hour religious programming network.
The Easter program, "Easter Promise," an installment of "Music and the Spoken Word," also featured the Orchestra at Temple Square and included four hymns, including the Hallelujah Chorus from "Christ on the Mount of Olives."
Vision TV is a non-profit charitable organization which shows religious programming from many different churches and various religions. In any given year, more than 70 faith groups will have programming on Vision TV.
"I don't recall the Mormon Tabernacle Choir ever being shown before in Canada on a nationwide television program," said Ken Sisler of the Newmarket Ward, Brampton Ontario Stake. "In fact, I don't remember a nationwide broadcast in Canada about the Church on any subject. It was a perfect way to end Good Friday."
