Three new temple presidents have been called by the First Presidency,
with their wives called as matrons. They will begin service soon.
Max and Rosanna Brough
Max Paul Brough, 67, West Point 13th
Ward, West Point Utah Stake, called as president of the Baton Rouge
Louisiana Temple, succeeding President John R. Pollard. President Brough's
wife,
Rosanna Kennedy Brough, will serve as
temple matron. President Brough, currently serving as a sealer and temple
ordinance worker in the
Ogden Utah Temple and as a ward Sunday School
teacher, previously served as president of the Louisiana Baton Rouge
Mission, stake president, stake president's counselor, bishop, and
institute teacher. Retired vice president, Human Resources and Information
Systems of the Farm Management Co., he was born in Randolph, Utah, to
Richard Muir and Gwendolyn Kearl Hanney Brough.
Sister Brough, currently serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden
Utah Temple and as a Relief Society teacher, previously served with her
husband as he presided over the Baton Rouge Louisiana Mission, and as a
ward Relief Society president and counselor, in stake and ward Young Women
presidencies, and in a ward Primary presidency. She was born in Ogden,
Utah, to Ernest E. and Inza Norris Kennedy.
Sheldon and Joan Child
Elder Sheldon Fay Child, 70, Ensign
Peak Ward, Salt Lake Stake, called as president of the
Salt Lake Temple,
succeeding President M. Richard Walker. President Child's wife,
Joan Haacke Child, will serve as temple matron.
President Child, currently a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy,
previously served as president of the New York New York and New York New
York South Missions, stake president, stake president's counselor, bishop
and bishop's counselor. The former president of a home furnishings company,
he was born in Ogden, Utah, to Mark Fay and Elda Viola Criddle Child.
Sister Child, currently serving as a Relief Society teacher, served on
the Relief Society General Board, with her husband as he presided over two
missions, in a stake Relief Society presidency, as stake and ward Young
Women president, and as a stake Primary president. She was born in Salt
Lake City, Utah, to Karl James and Enid Mary Park Haacke.
Janeil and W. Rolfe Kerr
Elder William Rolfe Kerr, 72, Midway
4th Ward, Midway Utah Stake. Called to serve as president of the Logan Utah
Temple, succeeding President Dennis E. Simmons. President Kerr's wife,
Janeil Raybould Kerr, will serve as temple
matron. President Kerr, currently serving as the Commissioner of the Church
Educational System, previously served as a member of the First Quorum of
the Seventy, president of the
Texas Dallas Mission, member of the Sunday
School General Board, stake president, and high councilor. The former Utah
Commissioner of Higher Education, he has also served as the executive vice
president of Brigham Young University and president of Dixie State College.
He was born in Tremonton, Utah, to Clifton GM and Irene Pack Kerr.
Sister Kerr, currently serving as a Relief Society pianist, served with
her husband as he presided over the Texas Dallas Mission, and has served in
a ward Young Women presidency, stake Primary secretary, ward Primary
president and counselor, and ward music chairman. She was born in Memphis,
Tenn., to William Leroy and Christine Smith Boston.
