Family: Born Nov. 20, 1957, in Long Beach, Calif., to Joseph Frank and Joyce Evelyn Jacobs Hamula. Married Joyce Anderson in the Mesa Arizona Temple on April 27, 1984. Parents of six children: Jerilyn, Jordan, Jennifer, Julie, Jared and Joseph.

Education: Bachelor's and masters degrees in political science/philosophy from BYU, juris doctorate from BYU.

Employment: Attorney and shareholder in an Arizona law firm.

Church service: Area Seventy in the North America Southwest Area; president of the Washington D.C. South Mission, 1994-97; stake president, bishop, full-time missionary in the Germany Munich Mission, 1977-79.
