OAKDALE, MINN.
Authorities suspect arson in an early morning fire at the St. Paul Minnesota Temple, the Associated Press reported Sept. 10. The temple is located in the suburb of Oakdale.
Smoke and fire were reported in the front entry of the temple shortly before 3 a.m. Fire Chief Jeff Anderson said it was mostly out by the time firefighters arrived.
The fire was mostly confined to the front doors, but the fire chief said some light smoke got into a front room. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
Investigators found no signs of forced entry, and authorities don't believe the case is a hate crime.
Scott Trotter, a spokesman for the Church in Salt Lake City, said the temple's normal schedule of operation was not interrupted.
