Despite challenges, the elder Aidukaitis set an ongoing example of faith for his family. "It was not easy for him. His wife did not get baptized with him. The vices of drinking alcohol and smoking were strong temptations for him. He was poor. His mother was against his joining the church and told him that if he were baptized, she would no longer consider him her son ...
"How could he make such a decision in the face of so many unfavorable circumstances? ... It was because my father read the Book of Mormon. ... The (book) is proof that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true."
The promise made by President Gordon B. Hinckley that families will receive spiritual blessings if they read the Book of Mormon has been fulfilled for the Aidukaitis family.
"We have read the Book of Mormon several times in our home, and we will continue to do so." Knowing the Book of Mormon is true is a natural step in accepting Joseph Smith as the prophet of the restoration and that the church he established is guided by the Savior.
