It would be unjust if the gospel were only accessible to an intellectual elite.
When Pharisees tried to trap Jesus in their logic, he often responded with almost childlike answers.
"Little children have a marvelous disposition to learn. They have total trust in their teacher, a pure spirit and great humility — in other words, the same qualities which open the door to the Holy Spirit."
Men must become as children: submissive, meek, humble, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon them.
"Our knowledge of God does not depend on the amount of information we accumulate." The gospel necessary for salvation can be summarized in a few points of doctrine. Knowing God is a matter of opening one's heart to gain a spiritual understanding of that doctrine. It is having a testimony of God's existence, accepting Jesus Christ as the Savior and wanting to follow him.
Gospel teaching should strive to convert hearts, to invite the Spirit and motivate students to make gospel commitments. By exercising faith and acting lessons taught, students will increase their spiritual knowledge.
