Since 1991, the Church News has devoted a portion of its last issue of the year to a specially selected theme, generally one that can be applied by individuals toward self-betterment in the new year.
This issue focuses on the theme of virtue. In an era when time-honored values and morality have slipped, the topic has ever-increasing importance. In addition, the First Presidency announced in a Nov. 28 letter the addition of virtue to the Young Women theme.
This issue focuses on a talk given by President James E. Faust in the General Young Women Meeting on March 29, 2003, detailing 10 virtues: faith, honesty, chastity, humility, self-discipline, fairness, moderation, cleanliness, courage and grace (see May 2003 Ensign and Liahona). In keeping with previous practice, guest writers were invited to address each of these topics.
