Joseph M. McPhie, 87, who presided over the Virginia Roanoke Mission from 1974-1977, Australia Sydney Mission from 1980-1982, the Salt Lake Temple Square Mission from 1993-1995 and the Scotland Edinburgh Mission from 1996-1997, died Dec. 7, 2008, in Holladay, Utah.

Jay Evard Welch, 83, who served as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir director in 1974, assistant choir director from 1957-1974, founder of the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus, and founder of the Salt Lake Repertory Orchestra, died Dec. 14, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Helen Wright Jeppson, 88, who served on the Relief Society general board from 1970-1973, died Dec. 11, 2008, in Murray, Utah.
