The Atlanta Georgia Temple will be closed 15 to 18 months beginning July 1, 2009, due to renovation. During the closure, members are invited to attend other temples as their circumstances permit. However, since attendance at some of the temples in the area is by appointment only, patrons or priesthood leaders should contact the temple well in advance of any planned visit.

The temple was dedicated June 1, 1983, by President Gordon B. Hinckley. It serves members living in 13 stakes in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
