Members in the Fargo North Dakota Stake are breathing easier as water levels along the Red River have begun to recede. As of April 1, water levels were at 37.37 feet, about five feet below the man-made sand dikes. Earlier, engineers projected the river would crest at 41 feet.

"We've felt the Lord's hand as He's tempered the weather," said President Joel Ransom of the Fargo stake. "We are grateful. Property loss has been fairly minimal."

Though water levels are falling, officials are being cautious as snow melt could cause the river to rise again. The region was recently pounded with a foot of snow.

President Ransom said that some of the 20 LDS families have returned to their homes.

Because of the flooding, the three Church units held a combined sacrament meeting on March 29.

One member home was completely destroyed by the floods.

Minor damage was reported to several others. No injuries were reported.

"It's not completely behind us yet," President Ransom said. "But things are looking better."
