Alan Snelgrove Layton, 61, Granite Ward, Sandy Utah Granite View Stake, called as president of the new Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. President Layton's wife, Leslie Pope Layton, will serve as temple matron. President Layton, currently serving with his wife as ward missionaries, previously served as a mission president, stake president, stake president's counselor, bishop, high councilor, high priests group leader, ward Young Men president, elders quorum president, and humanitarian missionary in Peru. Retired president and CEO of Layton Construction Company, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alan William and Mona Snelgrove Layton.

Sister Layton, currently serving as a ward missionary, previously served with her husband as he presided over the New York Rochester Mission, as well as stake Relief Society president, ward Primary president, gospel doctrine teacher, seminary teacher, and as a humanitarian missionary. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Bill Jordan and Margaret McConkie Pope.
