GOTEBORG, SWEDEN

About 100 young men and young women from the Goteborg and Malmo Sweden stakes met April 25 for a day filled with missionary preparation activities.

"One purpose was to create a feeling of being at the Missionary Training Center," wrote Lars Johanhage, Young Men president in the stake, in an e-mail.

"Thus, everybody was dressed and groomed like missionaries and given a missionary name tag."

In a letter signed by their stake president, they had previously been assigned to one of 12 "missions" created for the activity and, at the beginning of the day, each was assigned to a missionary companion. After receiving initial instructions, the young men and young women were divided into their missions and received a crash course in English, German, French, Finnish or Greek; each learned the first missionary discussion and how to sing "I Am a Child of God" in the respective languages.

The 12 "missions" were led by returned missionaries who had served in those countries. The returned missionaries shared inspiring and uplifting stories from their time in the mission field.

There were also workshops about financing, physical health, nutrition and how to keep living quarters tidy.

"The Goteborg stake has a long tradition of sending out many and well-prepared missionaries," Brother Johanhage wrote. "At present 27 missionaries from G?eborg serve all over the world, and seven others are about to start their service.

"The Goteborg and Malmo stakes are working very hard to always have constant focus on youth activities and following the Church program for young men and young women. Surely there will be lots of well-prepared missionaries from these two stakes within the next two years."
