YORK, PA.
Wearing bright yellow Mormon Helping Hands vests, eight Latter-day Saints from the Lewisberry 2nd Ward of the York Pennsylvania Stake picked up trash along a local highway on May 9 as part of an Adopt-A-Highway program.
Rain had already canceled one scheduled cleanup, but with the sun shining on May 9 they began at 8:00 a.m. The eight-person crew quickly restored each quadrant to its verdant beauty at the intersection of Route 32 and Interstate 83.
Participating in the cleanup were organizer Ron Bennie and his son Ronnie of York Haven, Pa.; Dr. Joseph Graver and his son Mike of York, Pa.; Chad Gagon, Phil Harris and Steve Shultz of York, Pa.; and Duaine Horlacker of York Haven, Pa. They made quick work of the task and completed their mission of beautifying the countryside in their little patch of the world.
Members of the Lewisberry 2nd Ward have adopted the intersection and participate in the cleanup each spring.
