The grave site of Martin Harris in Clarkston, Utah, was, on March 19, 1934, "the scene … of the greatest single gathering of Aaronic Priesthood in the history of the Church," according to the May 26, 1934, Church News.
About 10,000 people, mostly Aaronic Priesthood holders, visited the grave of one of the three witnesses to the Book of Mormon for the event that became, according to the article, "the outstanding feature of Aaronic Priesthood week" commemorating the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood.
The article stated that the Presiding Bishopric — Bishop Sylvester Q. Cannon and counselors Bishop David A. Smith and Bishop John Watts — attended.
"These visitors were guests of the Clarkston Ward bishopric" at a luncheon that was also attended by the "president of every stake in Cache Valley and several others," the article continued.
It said, "Bishop Cannon in his address of greeting explained the purpose of the gathering and expressed his pleasure at the proportions it had assumed. He told briefly of the importance of the mission of Martin Harris and of his being chosen of the Lord to be a special witness to all succeeding generations."
He also stressed the importance of the mission of Joseph Smith.
