The Boise Idaho Temple was dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley, then-second counselor to President Spencer W. Kimball, in 24 sessions May 25-30, 1984, according to the "2009 Church Almanac."
It was the Church's 27th temple.
President Ezra Taft Benson, then president of the Quorum of the Twelve and former president of the Boise Idaho Stake, spoke during the dedication.
He spoke warmly of his days in Boise and recalled the day his family left, as recorded in the June 3, 1984, Church News: "Our oldest daughter, with tears in her big brown eyes, asked, 'Daddy, do you think we will ever find people we love as much as the people of Boise?' My feelings are as tender as I face you."
