Family: Born Aug. 22, 1949, in Mesa, Ariz., to Darl and Erma Farnsworth Andersen. Married Kathleen Bennion on April 25, 1975, in the Provo Utah Temple. Nine children: Nathan (Andrea), Rebecca (John) LeSuer, Emily, Clayton (Amber), Neil (Megan), James (Shawnne), Matthew, Samuel, Spencer.
Education: Juris doctorate from J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU; bachelor's degree in business management from BYU with a minor in economics and Spanish.
Employment: Real estate development since 1979; law practice before that.
Church service: Area Seventy at the time of his call; former Varsity Scout coach, Institute teacher, temple ordinance worker, president of Mexico Guadalajara Mission 2002-2005, stake president, counselor in stake presidency, stake executive secretary, bishop, bishop's counselor and high councilor.
