Colleen Webb Asay, 81, widow of Elder Carlos Egan Asay, passed away June 4, 2009 in Bountiful, Utah. Sister Asay served with her husband as he served in many capacities within the Church — including service in the Presidency of the Seventy from 1980-1989, service in the First Quorum of the Seventy from 1976-1980, and as he presided over the Texas North Mission from 1970-73. Elder Asay died April 10, 1999.

Elizabeth Ann Poole "Betty" Brimhall, 86, who served as temple matron with her husband, Preston Burns Brimhall, as he served as President of the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple from 1993-96, died April 13, 2009, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

John Brown Jr., one of the original renowned Navajo Code Talkers, died May 20 at his home in Crystal, N.M. He was a member of the Crystal Branch, Chinle Arizona Stake.

Brother Brown, 88, served in the U.S. Marines Corps during World War II and was part of the first group of code talkers "who developed a secret code which was never deciphered by the Japanese and contributed to victory in the Pacific theater of the war and the saving of thousands of GIs," according to his obituary. He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2001 by President George W. Bush.

George E. Wahlen, 84, who was a Medal of Honor recipient, passed away June 5, 2009, in Salt Lake City. Brother Wahlen was a World War II medic hit by enemy fire during his time of service in the U.S. Navy and one of a few Medal of Honor recipients. He was awarded his Medal of Honor on Oct. 3, 1945, by President Harry S. Truman.
