Family: Born April 2, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, to Harvey R. and Gloria Jane Spiers Schwitzer. Married Jo Ann Elizabeth Rawsthorne June 24, 1971, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Five children, Sarah (Christopher) Neddo, Catherine (Thomas) Geertsen, Paul (Kari), Michael (Erika), Joshua (Sara), 16 grandchildren.

Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from the University of Utah, 1972; MD from University of Utah, 1975; completed residency and internship at William Beaumont Army Hospital and Fitzsimon's Army Medical Center.

Military: Five years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, 1975-1980.

Career: Named assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Utah, 1980; physician of emergency medicine at Wasatch Emergency; vice president of clinical programs at Intermountain Health Care, 1992-2005.

Church Service: Temple sealer; president of the Russia Yekaterinburg Mission, 2005-2007; counselor to five bishops; bishop; stake president and counselor; high councilor; full-time missionary in the North German Mission, 1967-1969.
