"… and now, as ye are desirous to come into the fold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another's burdens, that they may be light;
Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort …" — Mosiah 18: 8-9.
"I have since learned that one cannot demand love and respect or require that the bonds of friendship and appreciation be extended as an unearned right. These blessings must be earned. They come from personal merit. Sincere concern for others, selfless service, and worthy example qualify one for such respect," said Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve during a BYU devotional talk given Aug. 10, 1982.
"President David O. McKay repeatedly observed, 'Every man, every person radiates what he or she is. Every person is a recipient of radiation.' Where proper gospel principles are observed, that radiation invites friendship and trust."
