FAMILY: Born Dec. 12, 1960, in Salt Lake City to Edward M. and Andrea Ottesen Richardson. Married Lisa Jackson on July 14, 1983, in the Salt Lake Temple. Four children: Zachary (Jessica), Megan, Lauren Elizabeth, Tyler; one granddaughter.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in communication, master's degree in education (with emphasis in curriculum), doctorate in education, all from BYU.

CAREER: Professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU; former associate dean of religious education at BYU, 2002-06; taught LDS seminary adjacent to Pleasant Grove High School in Utah; taught at Provo, Utah, Missionary Training Center while a BYU undergraduate.

CHURCH SERVICE: Most recently Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher for young adult class; former bishop, member of elders quorum presidencies, full-time missionary, ward Young Men president, ward mission leader, Primary teacher and Sunday School teacher.
