Although no new leaders were added to the Quorums of the Seventy during the Saturday afternoon session of general conference, 13 members were released. Four members of the First Quorum of the Seventy were released and given emeritus status, and nine members of the Second Quorum of the Seventy were released.

Six of the Brethren released have been given other assignments throughout the world.
Elder Douglas L. Callister and his wife, Sister Jeannette M. Callister, have been called as president and matron of the Bountiful Utah Temple.
Elder Daryl H. Garn and his wife, Sister Irene H. Garn, have been called as president and matron of the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Elder Clate W. Mask Jr. and his wife, Sister Paula C. Mask, have been called as president and matron of the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple.
Elder William W. Parmley and his wife, Sister Shanna N. Parmley, have been called as president and matron of the Sacramento California Temple.
Elder W. Douglas Shumway and his wife, Sister Dixie A. Shumway, have been called as president and matron of the Albuquerque New Mexico Temple.
Elder Robert S. Wood and his wife, Sister Dixie J. Wood, have been called as president and matron of the Boston Massachusetts Temple.
