Several messages delivered in the Church's 180th Annual General Conference on April 3-4 were calls to action for the youth.

President Thomas S. Monson: "Don't put your eternal life at risk. Keep the commandments of God. If you have sinned, the sooner you begin to make your way back, the sooner you will find the sweet peace and joy that come with the miracle of forgiveness."

President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency: "You know of two powerful programs provided by the Lord. One, for young women, is called Personal Progress. The other, for Aaronic Priesthood holders, is called Duty to God. We encourage young people in the rising generation to see their own potential to build great spiritual strength."

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency: "Never give up on anyone. And that includes not giving up on yourself."

Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve: "Please look to your faithful mothers for a pattern to follow. Model yourselves after them ... Look to your mother. Learn from her strengths, her courage and her faithfulness. Listen to her."

Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve: "We may not be able to cure all of society's ills today, but let's speak of what some personal actions can be." Elder Holland then gave five specific actions to guard against temptation: Separate yourself from people, materials, and circumstances that cause harm; acknowledge that people bound by the chains of true addictions often need more help than self-help; remember that the only real control in life is self-control; know unwelcome thoughts can and do seek entrance to minds; and be where the Spirit of the Lord is.

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve: "To the youth and children: Live up to your important responsibilities and great spiritual capacities. Seek to know more about Jesus; open the scriptures. One idea would be to read again the book of John and then discuss it with your parents, teachers and each other."
