During the Aaronic Priesthood Commemoration Fireside in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Sunday, May 19, 1985, President Gordon B. Hinckley encouraged young men to live worthily and guard their priesthood.

An article in the May 26, 1985, Church News reported: "President Hinckley said of the priesthood, 'How precious it is. How wonderful it is. Guard it, boys. Use it in righteousness. Live worthy of it. Think about it. Reflect on it. And be grateful for it.' "

President Hinckley, then second counselor to President Spencer W. Kimball, was joined at the fireside by Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve and then-Presiding Bishop Robert D. Hales. Elder Nelson and Bishop Hales also spoke during the fireside.
