The 435,000-square-foot building, containing a 15,000-seat auditorium and a multi-purpose area large enough for 10 full basketball courts, is set to open in January. A dedication date has not yet been set.

"The BYU-Idaho Center will be a gathering place where students will be enriched spiritually, academically, physically, and socially," said BYU-Idaho President Kim Clark. "We are grateful to have such a structure on our campus where the entire university community can come together in one place. This is a marvelous building, and we are richly blessed to have it."

The auditorium portion of the building will primarily house weekly campus devotionals and triannual commencement exercises. Students and employees alike will have many opportunities to gather and experience specific blessings that come from meeting together as a university community.

The building's multi-use area will also be a place of gathering. In addition to athletic activities, the area will be used for service projects, employee gatherings, ecclesiastical meetings, academic projects, and a variety of other university needs.
