Keep pace

Your future will present insurmountable problems only when you consider them insurmountable. Your challenge is to keep faith with the past while you keep pace with the future.

— "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow," Brigham Young University Commencement, April 22, 1999

Scott G. Winterton, Dnews
Each of us has the charge to be not a doubter, but a doer; not a leaner, but a lifter. -- President Thomas S. Monson

A personal Liahona

Your patriarchal blessing is yours and yours alone. It may be brief or lengthy, simple or profound. Length and language do not a patriarchal blessing make. It is the Spirit that conveys the true meaning. Your blessing is not to be folded neatly and tucked away. It is not to be framed or published. Rather, it is to be read. It is to be loved. It is to be followed. Your patriarchal blessing will see you through the darkest night. It will guide you through life's dangers. … Your patriarchal blessing is to you a personal Liahona to chart your course and guide your way. …

Patience may be required as we watch, wait, and work for a promised blessing to be fulfilled.

— "Your Patriarchal Blessing: A Liahona of Light," Ensign, November 1986, p. 66

Designer of the universe

If there is a design in this world in which we live, there must be a Designer. Who can behold the many wonders of the universe without believing that there is a design for all mankind? Who can doubt that there is a Designer?

— "He Is Risen!," Ensign, May 2010, p. 87–90

Royal army

The priesthood represents a mighty army of righteousness—even a royal army. We are led by a prophet of God. In supreme command is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Our marching orders are clear. They are concise. Matthew describes our challenge in these words from the Master: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19).

Serve one another

Time passes. Circumstances change. Conditions vary. Unaltered is the divine command to succor the weak and lift up the hands which hang down and strengthen the feeble knees. Each of us has the charge to be not a doubter, but a doer; not a leaner, but a lifter.

— "With Hand and Heart," Ensign, December 1971, p. 131

Genuine respect

Happiness abounds when there is genuine respect one for another. Wives draw closer to their husbands, and husbands are more appreciative of their wives; and children are happy, as children are meant to be. Where there is respect in the home, children do not find themselves in that dreaded "never, never land" --never the object of concern, never the recipient of proper parental guidance. — "An Example of the Believers," general Women's Meeting, Sept. 26, 1992
