Five members of the Quorums of the Seventy were released and designated emeritus general authorities in the Saturday afternoon session of general conference.
Members of the First Quorum of the Seventy released and given emeritus status were:
Elder Spencer J. Condie, Elder Bruce C. Hafen, Elder Kenneth Johnson, Elder Glenn L. Pace, and Elder Lance B. Wickman.
Members of the Second Quorum of the Seventy released were: Elder Spencer V. Jones and Elder Wolfgang H. Paul
Two Area Seventies were released: Elder Fernando Maluenda and Elder Jose L. Torres.
With most of the leadership changes conducted during the April general conference, Elder Wenceslao H. Svec, 53, of Talca, Chile, was sustained Saturday afternoon as an Area Seventy. Currently serving as a Church Education System coordinator of seminaries and institutes and a former president of the Talca Chile Stake, he and his wife, Alicia, are the parents of four children.
Several of the Brethren released have been given other assignments throughout the world.
Elder Spencer J. Condie and his wife, Sister Dorothea Speth Condie, have been called as president and matron of the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.
Elder Bruce C. Hafen and his wife, Marie Kartchner Hafen have been called as the president and matron of the St. George Utah Temple.
Elder Lance B. Wickman will continue to serve as general counsel to the Church.
Elder Spencer V. Jones is currently serving as president of the New Mexico Farmington Mission.
