On the day my parents, Oscar and Luella Cline Edlund, were married in the Salt Lake Temple, Feb. 14, 1924, Oscar had his sister and himself sealed to their parents, August and Sophia Gabrielson Edlund.

His parents and sister had all died before Oscar came to Utah. He arrived in Salt Lake City in 1922 and was taught the gospel by his boss, who was Luella's father, Ulysses Simpson Cline.

Oscar was thrilled to find the true Church and be a forever family with his folks and his new bride. During his lifetime, he sent money to Sweden to a professional genealogist on many occasions to obtain family history and names for temple ordinance work. His patriarchal blessing stated he was to be a savior on Mount Zion in his father's household.

Oscar never received a response from Sweden. About a month after he died, Luella sent money and asked if anyone could help with this work.

In response to her request, 600 names were obtained and the temple work for the names was done in 1966. It was as if Oscar was in heaven facilitating this work.

In 2008, Oscar's daughter, Lynda Edlund Cook, responded to a post on a genealogy website from someone in Sweden inquiring if anyone knew about the family of Bengt August Edlund and his father, Per Olafsson who had come to Rockford, Ill., in 1893, where Per had changed his name to Peter Edlund.

Lynda answered the inquiring person in Sweden. As a result, our family has been supplied with 3,500 names of ancestors on our direct lines of Edlund, from Edeby, Ullerud and Varmland; and Gabrielson from Skaraborg. The first ancestor listed is in 1500.

This is such a blessing to our family. — Marie Edlund Humpherys, Ogden, Utah
